Riz Ahmed Confirmed as Netflix’s Hamlet
Riz Ahmed is taking full advantage of his career momentum. The Emmy winning actor is developing a modern-day version of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet for Netflix and is playing the lead role.

Hamlet is considered one of the most famous and difficult roles in all of drama. It has been tackled by some of the most highly regarded actors of all time including Ralph Fiennes, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Sheen and David Tennant. Most recently Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) has been portraying the role at The Public Theater in New York City.

Set in a modern-day London of economic and political uncertainty, the story follows the intersecting themes of familial honor, moral duty and dynastic corruption.
Ahmed is coming off an Emmy win for outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie for his work in the HBO limited series The Night Of.
The busy actor was also recently cast in the Sony Spider-Man spinoff film Venom.
