Back last year, Legendary Entertainment announced that they acquired the rights to make a movie based on the Pokémon Spinoff, Great Detective Pikachu. Filming on the movie has just been scheduled, and will be taking place starting in January 2018 in London. Although the game itself has yet to be released worldwide, the film is expected to be released internationally, with Toho distributing the film in Japan and Univeral distributing outside.

Though casting announcements have not yet been revealed, Gravity Falls’ Alex Hirsch and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Nicole Perlman are writing the script. Rob Letterman of Goosebumps and Monsters vs. Aliens.

The plot of the game centers around a talking Pikachu who meets a young boy named Tim Goodman. The two decide to solve various mysteries together.
