A Nancy Drew TV Series is On The Works at NBC
Nancy Drew is back on our TV… or at least that’s the plan.
According to Variety, NBC is planning on developing a new series after CBS attempted to do so. The NBC series will still have Tony Phelan and Joan Rater as writers and executive producers of the show -they were on the CBS project- and executive producer Dan Jinks, who developed the CBS version as well.
This new series will follow an older Nancy, around her 40s and 50s, who works as a detective for the NYPD. There, she investigates and solves crimes using what made her such a great detective in her youth.
As a real-life murder mystery comes across her, Nancy decides to turn to her two best friends from childhood, her inspiration for the Nancy Drew books, who will have a couple of words with her due to her decision of how to portray them, as she took some “creative liberties”, always putting herself as the heroine and relegating her friends to the sidelines.
This shift in the series is an interesting one, we’ll just have to be patient to see the results.
