‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ Wraps Filming
It appears the latest X-Men film is now officially in the can. Director Simon Kinberg posted a photo on his Instagram page with the caption “That’s a wrap. #darkphoenix #xmenmovies 11.2.18.”
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is the latest film featuring the younger incarnations of the mutant heroes. It will focus on Jean Grey’s Dark Phoenix saga, though Kinberg has stressed that the story will be more grounded.
The most recent film in the X-Men franchise, Apocalypse, teased Jean tapping into her Phoenix powers in the finale.
Jean’s struggle with her Phoenix persona has been a central story of the X-Men world and the Marvel universe as a whole. It was previously tackled on-screen, to somewhat poor reviews, in X-Men: The Last Stand.
Directed by Kinberg and starring James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy, Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Jessica Chastain, X-Men: Dark Phoenix opens Nov. 2, 2018.
