Jason Momoa Responds To Surfaced Footage of Game of Thrones Rape Joke

Earlier this week, footage of Jason Momoa making a rape joke a 2011 Game of Thrones Comic-Con Panel resurfaced online. The 2011 comment, which as in relation to Momoa’s character Khal Drogo, can be seen below:

“As far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love that genre because there are so many things you can do, like rip someone’s tongue out of their throat and get away with it and rape beautiful women”.

In a wake of decades of sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein, and with 2003 footage against Ben Affleck for groping Hilarie Burton, Momoa’s rape joke has become another example of recent sexual allegations against prominent Hollywood men.

Yesterday, Entertainment Weekly reports that Momoa has released a statement via social media, seen below.

    • Also people grow and change over time. I’ve done some fairly “not nice” things in my past. I can only atone for those things by not doing them now, or actively working against what I did before. Momoa has since not made such remarks and i’m inclined to believe his apology was sincere.
