Michelle Pfeiffer Teases Her Role in “Ant-Man And The Wasp”
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been overflowing with immense talent since its inception. From Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford to Chadwick Boseman and Angela Bassett, the MCU makes it a priority to bring on top tier talent when bringing iconic characters to live action portrayals. The streak continues with Michelle Pfeiffer being cast to play Janet Van Dyne aka The Wasp in the upcoming Ant-Man And The Wasp film.
This role will serve as Pfeiffer’s first big high profile role since taking a break from acting. While speaking with Variety, she explained that she took the role after seeing the first Ant-Man film:
“It had this great sense of humor about it and just this unusual tone. This new script has the same thing. It’s nicely written.”
She also went on to explain that she decided to read some comics in order to get familiar with her character:
“I just started reading them, and I’m having a really hard time. There’s so much information on a page, and it’s not linear. When I’m skim reading them it’s difficult to know that this part comes after that and who is talking in what bubble.”
Pfeiffer is no stranger to comicbook roles. She starred as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman in Batman Returns directed by Tim Burton. Her portrayal of the fierce feline is definitely written in the Geek History books as iconic.
Ant-Man and The Wasp is currently in production and Pfeiffer joins an already star studded cast that includes Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Michael Douglas, Judy Greer, Michael Peña and more.
