As the weekend comes to a close and we’re all finally given a chance to relax, it only seems fitting that one would share what they experienced over the past few days – in my case, it was New York Comic-Con, and boy was it a crazy time. Stick with me as I run you through all the fun stuff that GOC got into the past few days.

Pacific Rim: Uprising Panel & Trailer

We’ll start with the Pacific Rim: Uprising panel. One of the first things that GOC was able to attend was this panel to discuss the future of Pacific Rim as a franchise. The panelists were Steven S. DeKnight (director), Burn Gorman, Scott Eastwood, Adria Arjona, and John Boyega. The panel didn’t reveal too much, but DeKnight did fill us in on quite a few things – including the names and features of the new Jaegers in the film. Everything sounded amazing, but what really did it in for us was the world premiere trailer that was shown. It featured a lot of action and some other things too. all in all, no complaints. Sidenote: the DJ for this event was pretty dope. I’d book him for all of my events.

The Runaways Panel & Sneak Peak

The following day, We made our way to the man show floor to hang out with the cast of Marvel and Hulu’s The Runaways.  This show has kind of been shrouded in mystery, but anyone who’s read the comic should have a pretty solid idea of what to expect in the show. Jeph Loeb was also in attendance, and he surprised us all with a treat: they let us all watch the first episode of the show right then and there. For a pilot, there was tons of character development and the acting was top-notch, but I’ll save all of those details for an official review. This cast seemed to have great real-life chemistry, and it was super cool to get a chance to experience this event.

Here’s the official trailer for The Runaways, which will be available on Hulu on November 21st:

Jack Ryan Panel: First Seven Minutes

On the third day of the convention, I made my way to Amazon’s panel for their upcoming original series, Jack Ryan.  The panelists included the executive producers Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland, and the show’s stars John Krasinski and Abbie Cornish (Wendell Pierce was also supposed to make an appearance, but due to family emergencies, he was absent). The panel was nothing more than a Q&A for fans (many of them asked John questioned that related to The Office, unsurprisingly). We did get to see the first 7 minutes of the first episode of the show though, which showed us that Krasinski’s version of Jack Ryan is very different from others that have been on screen in the past, and that’s exactly what they were going for.

Amazon’s Jack Ryan isn’t out until 2018, but here’s a trailer for the series:

The Gifted: Roundtable Interview

This was one of my favorite things I got to do, and especially on the last day. I got to sit down with some of the cast members of FOX’s The Gifted and pick their brains for a little bit. Obviously, they weren’t allowed to tell us much, but it was clear that they were all very excited to be apart of this project. And from what they did tell us, it’s looking like we may see some very interesting and familiar mutants further down the line. Oh, and I asked both Jamie Chung and Emma Dumont how they felt about pineapple pizza and they said they liked it, so they’re canceled (just kidding, Y’all are great).

Random Cosplay, & More!

Those were all of the main events that I got the chance to cover. There was so much to do but we could only be stretched so thin. However, I had a chance to experience some other things. There was plenty of cosplayers showcasing their love for these characters, so I made sure to get pictures of the ones that really blew me away. I was able to attend the Blu-ray and DVD release event for American Gods that was being held at a bar. I also got to meet a few celebs along the way, which is always nice!

All in all, New York Comic-Con was a great experience this year, and I can’t wait to come back next year and experience it all again. Hopefully, I’ll get to check out even more things next time I make my way out here.
