Starting next year, The Weeknd will have another title to add his list of achievements: Comic book creator.

The Canadian singer/record producer whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, has spent the past couple of days giving vague hints of a new project on his Twitter page and today during New York’s Comic-Con, officially announced that he will collab with Marvel on a new comic.

The name is clearly taken from Tesfaye’s popular 2016 album Starboy and had stated in interviews an interest in taking the fictional persona into the comic book realm. In an interview with Pigeons & Planes he stated:

Starboy is the next chapter in this chronicle, this saga. I guess this is the fourth chapter. He’s a character that we created. It’s so funny, we want to create a comic out of him, as well. … He’s a cool, dope character that makes appearances a lot on the album. He’s definitely made his appearance in different records in the past, as well. He’s a more braggadocious character that we all have inside of us.”

The comic has an expected release of 2018 and the officially released artwork can be seen below.

The Weeknd isn’t the only celeb to get the comic treatment as others like Lady Gaga and KISS have been artistically stylized into the comic book format and back in March Marvel revealed a collaboration between themselves and the Black Eyed Peas for a work called Masters of the Sun – The Zombie Chronicles which revolves around an alien God who attacks the citizens of Los Angeles and turn them into the undead.

Ya’ll excited for Starboy or are you gonna let this one pass? Tell us what you think in the comments below!
