Jessica Williams Joins Cast of ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2’

Just when most thought the Harry Potter fandom was finally about to die, like a Phoenix they were resurrected from their ashes when magic returned to the big screen last year in the form of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, an entirely new story following the adventures of Newt Scamander, a magizoologist on a journey to better understand the creatures that reside in the magical world. The film was the first in an expected quintet and even won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design.

With the sequel just a little over a year away, we are receiving more and more information about it including that the following films will explore the relationship between Newt Scamander and Leta Lestrange, that Nicolas Flamel, the man who created the Sorcerer’s Stone will be making an appearance and that actor/writer/comedian Jessica Williams will also be joining the magical realm.

Up until she left last year, Williams was a daily correspondent for The Daily Show and had been since 2012. In addition to eher stand up shows, she is currently one of the two hosts of the popular podcast 2 Dope Queens and currently has a movie on Netflix titled The Incredible Jessica James which had it’s original premiere at Sundance back in January. The actress took to her own Twitter to confirm her role in the film:

Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, and Carmen Ejogo will all be returning for the sequel while other new cast members include Jude Law who will be playing Albus Dumbledore and Callum Turner who will be playing Theseus Scamander. There is currently no information on Jessica’s role in the film.
