Viola Davis, Larry Wilmore Team Up to Produce Comedy ‘Black Don’t Crack’ for ABC
Two of TV’s most successful personalities are working together on a new ABC comedy. Oscar and Emmy winning actress Viola Davis and writer/producer Larry Wilmore are set to produce the new comedy Black Don’t Crack for ABC.
Insecure executive producer Regina Hicks will write and executive produce the series about three sorority sisters who reunite at pivotal points in their lives because no one loves you like your sisters.
Davis and her husband/producing partner Julius Tennon will executive produce through their JuVee Productions, which has an overall deal with ABC Studios.
“Viola and I are inspired by Regina Hicks and to have Larry Wilmore EP is a dream,” said Tennon. “Seeing these three African-American women who appear not to age but, to have challenges that we can all relate to and in a way, we have not seen before, will be a revelation.”

Wilmore is co-creator and executive producer on Insecure and hosts his Black on the Air podcast.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of this exciting project and to collaborate with the crazy talented, Regina Hicks,” Wilmore said. “BDC is hilarious, heartwarming, and shines a light on women who are hiding in plain sight.”
Black Don’t Crack follows in the success of this summer’s Girls Trip, which made $135 million at the worldwide box office.
Davis can currently be seen starring on How to Get Away with Murder Thursdays at 10 pm on ABC.
