Fresh off the announcement that Nnedi Okorafor will write a Nigerian female superhero for Marvel, comes the news that the popular author will also write the new comic Black Panther: Long Live the King.
The book is a biweekly Comixology exclusive that starts in December. The story takes place in the world of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Black Panther and “will follow T’Challa as he desperately tries to defend his home from a terrifying new threat.”

“Like Ta-Nehisi Coates and Roxanne Gay, Nnedi Okorafor brings her storytelling and world building skills to Wakanda,” said ComiXology’s Chip Mosher.
Okorafor is set to write Blessing in Disguise, which stars Ngozi, a young Nigerian girl. The short takes place in the Venomverse, with Ngozi fighting alongside Black Panther.
Long Live the King will be a nice appetizer for fans as they wait for the release of Black Panther, which claws its way into theaters February 16, 2018.
