Lack of X-Men Due to a ‘9/11 Type Event’ in ‘The Gifted’
Well, The Gifted debuted last night on Fox and it was pretty decent if I do say so myself. I won’t go super in-depth to keep this spoil free but I WILL say there were some pretty cool call backs to our favorite mutants and Emma Dumont’s Polaris could potentially be the breakout star of this series, especially with the nods to her father’s way of handling things.
Now while the show is said to have some connection to the X-Men cinematic universe.. or not.. one thing’s for sure: the X-Men exist, but where the hell are they? Well, show runner Matt Nix spoke with CBR to give some insight on what happened to my team, the X-Men. Check out his quote below:
“The X-Men are gone. The Brotherhood is gone. Most of the powerful classic mutants are not around. People don’t know where they’ve gone. They are shrouded in mystery. It comes out gradually over the course of the series that there’s been a cataclysmic event, a bit of a 9/11 event, that caused enormous social upheaval and a lot of hatred towards mutants. It’s somehow related to the disappearance of the X-Men and the Brotherhood.”
Well what does that sound like to you folks? A “9/11 event” like maybe, the Westchester event from Logan eh? Eh? Don’t worry, I get more into that theory here. What do you guys think the event is and what were your thoughts on the show? Sound off in the comments!
Catch The Gifted on Fox every Monday at 9:00/8:00 central!
