Jonathan Levine Directing, Kenya Barris Writing ‘Coming to America 2’
The long rumored Coming to America sequel is becoming real with The Hollywood Reporter saying Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, The Night Before) is set to direct and Blackish creator/executive producer Kenya Barris writing the script.

Jonathan Levine has directed comedies 50/50 and The Night Before.
For the unfamiliar, Coming to America stars Eddie Murphy as African Prince Akeem, who comes to New York and pretends to be poor so he can find a woman who loves him for him. He is accompanied by his best friend, played by Arsenio Hall.
In the movie Murphy and Hall also hilariously play several other roles under extensive make up.
It is widely considered one of Murphy’s best movies and is one of the most popular comedies in the last 30 years.

Though there is no official deal in place, Murphy is involved in the development and may star.
This is a very big risk for Levine and Barris, as they don’t want to be known as the guys who ruined a classic.

Sequels are weird, you want them because you loved the original story… But then again you don’t want what you loved to be ruined…. That being said YES lol
