Godzilla 2 Officially Wraps Up Filming

We’re one step closer to seeing the King of Monsters back on the big screen.

Michael Dougherty, director of Godzilla: King of Monsters announced via Twitter that the sequel has finished production and principal photography.

Godzilla: King of Monsters stars Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown, with Sally Hawkins and Ken Watanabe reprising their roles from the first film. Screenrant reports that the whole production process has been kept under wraps.

The shooting of the movie has since been veiled in strict secrecy, with only a couple of photos showing some suburban destruction having been leaked from the set [and] Dougherty himself has shared only some enigmatic shots of a possibly important prop, and viral promos teased the arrival of classic Kaiju Mothra.

The plot of the sequel will focus on how the Government agency Monarch will deal with “the reality of more gigantic monsters rising from the depths of the Earth”. Godzilla: King of Monsters will introduce such monsters like Mothra and Rodan, and ultimately King Ghidorah. Additionally, the introduction of these monsters will be the lead up to the 2020 film Godzilla vs. Kong.
