DC Comics’ Rebirth has been building to a major revelation that someone has altered time. Batman’s discovery of a smiley face pin revealed Doctor Manhattan is involved.
Now, things are set to come to a head in the miniseries Doomsday Clock. The 12 issue event is set to hit comic book store shelves in November, and DC has released a trailer to prepare fans for what’s to come.
In the clip, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer and prolific comic book writer Geoff Johns discusses the story’s inspiration.
In an interview with CBR earlier this year, Johns explained how the Watchmen fit into the regular DC universe.
“Thematically, and metaphorically, there was no better choice than to use Doctor Manhattan,” he said. “If you’re going to have a conflict between optimism and pessimism, a battle between the very forces of hope and despair, you need to have someone who personifies the cynicism that has leaked into our hearts and also has the ability to affect the entire DCU. It’s all paying off this November with Doomsday Clock.”
Doomsday Clock #1 will be released Nov. 22. However, some stores will have it available at special events Nov. 21 at 11:57 pm.
