Joker’s Origin Film May Soon Have a Completed Script
Amidst confusion about the sudden influx of Joker-centric films comes news that the Clown’s origin story may be edging closer to production. A Joker origin film existing beyond the confines of the DC Extended Universe is reportedly in the works, with Martin Scorsese attached to produce and Todd Phillips of The Hangover fame being circled to direct. Rumors suggest Leonardo DiCaprio is a hopeful lead, but official details have yet to come from on high at Warner Bros.
Considering all of the above, it would seem the project is at its earliest of stages. However, a tweet from Variety’s Justin Kroll (via GameSpot) intimates things are moving rather quickly.
Hear THE JOKER script will be turned in by next week, super fast considering when announcement went out bodes well for 2018 shoot

As Kroll notes, if all goes well with the script, filming may begin sometime in 2018. Thus, the untitled Joker origin film could hit theaters in 2019 or 2020. Of course, this raises questions as to what Warner Bros. has planned for the other Joker-centric film that is set in the DCEU, which stars both Jared Leto’s villain and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
