‘Insecure’ Actor Y’Lan Noel To Star In ‘The Purge’ Prequel

If you thought The Purge franchise was only going to be a trilogy, you thought wrong. It seems the creators still have a story or two up their sleeves and are preparing for the next installment of the series entitled The Purge: The Island. The film is said to take place on Staten Island during the first experimental purge and will explore how the country got to such a chaotic place.

Now, The Tracking Board is reporting the film has found its two leads and they are none other than Y’Lan Noel and Lex Scott Davis.

You may recognize Noel from his recurring role as Daniel on the HBO series Insecure. Noel may not have an extensive resume but this role will be a huge turning point for the actor’s career and it will be interesting to see how he goes from comedic heartthrob to being the leading man in an action thriller.

Lex Scott Davis got her big break starring as Toni Braxton in the biopic produced by the Lifetime Network, Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart. Since then she has had a recurring role on the CBS series Training Day.

The Purge series has definitely developed a cult following since its debut in 2013. The fourth installment will be helmed by Gerard McMurray who directed the Netflix original film Burning Sands. Where the series goes from here, only time will tell. What do you think of this casting? Let us know in the comments below.
