Claire Foy Cast As Lead in ‘A Girl In The Spider’s Web’

It’s official! After rumors had been circulating that she would be taking on the role, Deadline is now reporting that Claire Foy has been confirmed to be taking on the mantle of Lisbeth Salander in A Girl In The Spider’s Web.

The film is the next installment in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series. The role was previously portrayed by actresses Rooney Mara and Noomi Rapace and if Foy’s most recent work is any indication of the gravitas she is able to bring to the role, fans of the series will be in for a treat.

Claire Foy currently stars as Queen Elizabeth in the Netflix original series The Crown and has won both a SAG Award and a Golden Globe for her portrayal in the role. She’s come a long way since starring as Ms. Karp in the book-to-film adaption of Vampire Academy. The film will be directed by Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe). Here’s what he had to say about her casting:

“I couldn’t be more thrilled about Claire taking the reins of the iconic Lisbeth Salander. Claire is an incredible, rare talent who will inject a new and exciting life into Lisbeth. I can’t wait to bring this new story to a worldwide audience, with Claire Foy at its center.”
