Sebastian Stan Compares Winter Soldier To Jon Snow In ‘Infinity War’

Everyday day is one day closer to the Comic-book movie event audiences have been waiting for since 2012’s The Avengers. Every story, character and post-credits scene has been carefully planned to build up to our Marvel heroes epic faceoff with the mad titan himself, Thanos, in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War.

The film is said to bring together all the heroes for an unforgettable showdown. One character in particular that fans can look forward to seeing again is Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier. The character was #TeamCap in the Russo Brother directed Captain America: Winter Soldier and was on sort of a journey to re-discover his identity and where he fit into this new world as a free man. The film ended with Bucky going into hiding under the protection of Black Panther in the nation of Wakanda.

When Marvel played footage of Infinity War at the D23 Expo and San Diego Comic Con this past summer, fans lost their heads when they saw a quick clip of Bucky standing next to Black Panther with an army of Wakandan soldiers behind them ready for battle. So we know that Winter Soldier will indeed be apart of the big battle with Thanos and his Black Order. But this is a new type of threat unlike anything the Winter Soldier has ever faced. Being a brainwashed assassin performing covert missions is much different than being an Avenger and fighting an immortal alien beng bent on destroying the universe. So how will Bucky cope?

While speaking with MTV News to promote his new movie I, Tonya, Sebastian compared Bucky to Jon Snow, everyone’s favorite bastard from HBO’s epic fantasy series Game Of Thrones:

“It certainly is the biggest culmination of anything and everything they’ve done so far. It’s just going to be bigger and crazier than anything. I feel a lot like that Jon Snow character in Battle of the Bastards. When there’s that shot of Jon Snow, from the back as horses are charging at him and he’s just standing there, that’s kind of how I feel on set at times. Will I make this stampede or not?”

The comparison is definitely fitting since both characters seem to have always been set up against major odds but have somehow come out victorious. Besides his mechanical arm and the super soldier serum running through his veins, Winter Soldier isn’t “super” like Thor, Vision or Scarlet Witch so facing an extraterrestrial threat may seem a bit out of his league (sideye at Black Widow and Hawkeye) but it appears he won’t let that stop him from defending the planet.

Are you excited to see Winter Solider kick butt in Infinity War? What do you think of his comparison to Jon Snow? Share your thoughts in the comments below. We want to hear from you.
