Daniel Dae Kim In Talks to Replace Ed Skrein as Major Ben Daimio in ‘Hellboy’ Reboot
Ed Skrein decided to step down from his role as Major Ben Daimio in August after the well-publicised criticism on social media from fans who argued that the role should be played by an Asian actor. The producers responded by saying that they will respect the self-less wishes of Ed Skrein and the fans with the next casting decision for the role. Daniel Dae Kim who most recently stepped down from his role in Hawaii Five-O over a salary dispute, is expected to play the Japanese-American character. He is currently in negotiations for the role.
Major Ben Daimio is a former U.S. Marine who works for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. After a supernatural incident he can turn into a jaguar when he is in pain or angry. Daniel Dae Kim joins David Harbour (Stranger Things) in the starring role. Ian McShane (American Gods) will play Professor Trevor “Broom” Bruttenholm whilst Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) takes on the Blood Queen. The demonic hero reboot is being directed by Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones).
