Patty Jenkins Is Officially Directing ‘Wonder Woman’ Sequel

The DCEU has had its share of controversy surrounding it, and while some may argue about its consistency and the way they’re handling things, there’s one thing we all agree with: Wonder Woman was a summer sensation, breaking box office records and showing that a female lead in a superhero movie directed by a woman is not a bad idea.

The credit for Wonder Woman’s success relies on the shoulders of the woman who made it possible, Patty Jenkins. She was responsible for giving us a heartfelt story that tell us that, maybe life is not about deserving, but what we believe in.

Ever since Wonder Woman’s release, there’s been some speculation about who will direct its sequel, and while it was said that Patty Jenkins was in talks with Warner to return as the director, nothing was a certainty.

However, today’s news change that, as it was revealed by Variety that Patty Jenkins has closed the deal with Warner Bros to direct Wonder Woman 2, closing a deal in the $8 million dollar range that puts her not only as director, but as co-writer and producer, a deal that makes her the highest paid female director of all times. In her contract is also stipulated that she will receive a substantial backend resulting from box office grosses.

This comes as exciting news for fans, as it was already revealed that she was working on the script for the movie alongside Geoff Johns, creative director for DC Entertainment.

Gal Gadot is also set to return as Diana Prince for the sequel.

What do you think about this news? Are you excited for Patty’s return?
