Regina King has been a boss in Hollywood since she was a young girl. Now the busy actress/director is adding another prestigious credit to her resume. She will direct an episode of This is Us’ second season.

King’s directing work can be seen on shows like Being Mary Jane, Scandal, Animal Kingdom and Shameless.

As an actress she is most well-known for roles in Ray, Jerry Maguire, Southland and the animated classic The Boondocks as the voice of Riley Freeman.

She currently stars on the ABC anthology series American Crime. She is nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. An award she’s won the past two years.

This is Us was last season’s breakout hit and follows the trials and tribulations of the Pearson family through separate time periods. Its second season is scheduled to premiere Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 9 pm on NBC.
