Navid Negahban Cast as the Sultan in Disney’s Live-Action ‘Aladdin’
One of the final major characters in Aladdin has been cast. Navid Negahban (Homeland) will play the Sultan. All of the central roles have now been cast and shooting began today as the announcement of the Sultan’s casting was made public. The flick is currently shooting outside London with Guy Ritchie at the helm.
Navid Negahban joins Will Smith as the Genie, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Mawran Kenzari as Jafar. Other characters to have also been cast include Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Numan Acar as Hakim and a new character was created for Billy Magnussen to play Prince Anders.
Will Smith posted a cast photo announcing the beginning of the shoot. He said, “We just started shooting Aladdin and I wanted to intro you guys to our new family… Mena Massoud/Aladdin, Naomi Scott/Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari/Jafar, and I’m over here gettin my Genie on. Here we go!”
Aladdin does not yet have a release date.
