Screenwriter Confirms Shia LaBeouf Won’t be in ‘Indiana Jones 5’

Since it was announced that Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg would be back for Indiana Jones 5, fans have been waiting to hear details about the plot and what other characters could possibly return.

Screenwriter David Koepp recently let EW in on a few of the film’s secrets.

Perhaps the most important news to fans was his confirmation that “the Shia LaBeouf character is not in the film.”

In Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, LaBeouf played Mutt, the son of Indy and Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen).

The character was not well received and the actor made negative comments about working with Spielberg in 2016, saying he was “less a director than a company.”

Though he later regretted his choice of words, it’s no surprise that he won’t be back in the franchise.

In more positive news, Koepp also said that “we’ve got a script we’re mostly happy with.” Meaning he’s mostly done working on the script and production could start once Spielberg is done with his upcoming projects The Papers and Ready Player One.

Indiana Jones 5 is currently scheduled for release July 10, 2020.

Are you sorry that LaBeouf won’t return for Indiana Jones 5?
