Queen Latifah Confirms ‘Living Single’ Revival Is In Early Development

The Nineties brought us some really good black sitcoms. Sometimes you take them for granted but when you look at your television screen now you can see that, although they are good, most of these newer sitcoms don’t hold a candle to the classics like The Cosby Show, Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, Family Matters and Martin just to name a few.

But you can’t mention classic black sitcoms without appreciating all the joy and laughter that was brought to us by Living Single. This show was “Friends” before Ross, Monica and Rachel even existed on a piece of paper. The sitcom followed the lives of four New York women living together (well not Max, but hell she practically did live there) in a brownstone as they tackled life, love, career and the true meaning of friendship across five wonderful seasons. The show was even nominated for two Primetime Emmys and won one of its five NAACP Image Award nominations.

Fast forward to the present, we can thank Netflix and a few other TV networks for seeing how amazing many of these shows were and for bringing them back for revivals and reboots galore. So far we are have gotten revivals of Will & Grace, Boy Meets World, That’s So Raven, and Full House just to name a few. Now, Essence Magazine is reporting, that Queen Latifah has confirmed that a revival of Living Single is in active development during an interview with Andy Cohen on popular show Watch What Happens Live! Watch the video from the interview below:

There you have it. How dope would it be to see Khadijah, Regine, Maxine and Sinclaire navigating life in New York twenty-something years later. Are they married? Divorced? Parents? Broke? Successful? Trump Supporters? Only time will tell. Latifah did say that they are still working out the details so there is no network attached or even a pilot script to dissect. All we know is that all the original cast must return or it just won’t be the same.

What say you GOC fam? Is this a show revival you can get behind? If not, what show do you want to see make a comeback on the small screen? Let us know in the comments below.
