Everyday you turn around, it looks like Warner Bros. has another film on their slate. Not that we’re complaining, but why so many? Who knows. What we DO know, is that following yesterday’s news that the Joker may be receiving his own origin film, it’s now being revealed that the next potential project on WB’s list is a Joker and Harley Quinn film.
THR reported this news exclusively, and also shared that the film is to be written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the duo who worked on This is Us, and 2011’s Crazy Stupid, Love. This is a pretty competent duo, but they don’t exactly work on things of this nature, so this could be an interesting project for them. And of course (not revealing their source), THR says the film is being rushed into development, and is being described as a “criminal love story.”
Obviously, some people are going to love this idea, and some will despise it. While it doesn’t seem necessary to have a Joker origin film and a Joker and Harley film, Warner Bros. And DC think it’s the right move. Of course this is not an official press release so this could be false, but we’re going to assume it’s not for now.
We want to know your thoughts on this whole situation though, so sound off in the comment section below!
