Amazon’s ‘Transparent’ Renewed For A Fifth Season

Just less than a month before the fourth season of Jill Soloway’s Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series Transparent, The Hollywood Reporter announces that the show has already been renewed for a fifth season.

Transparent is a series that stars Jeffrey Tambor “as the patriarch of the Pfefferman family, who comes out as transgender and begins to live life as Maura”. Judith Light plays Maura’s ex-wife Shelly with the pair’s children played by Gaby Hoffmann, Amy Landecker and Jay Duplass.

Amazon Studios Joe Lewis, head of comedy, drama, and VR, released a statement about the announcement:

“Over the past few seasons the Pfeffermans have gone across the world, back in time and made many, many trips to the deli. We’re so excited to see what magic Jill and the incredible team bring to this always groundbreaking series in season five.”

Showrunner Jill Soloway was also present during the announcement, and had a statement below:

“We are extremely grateful to Amazon Studios for their continued trust and support and to our audience for their warm embrace of the Pfeffermans. We look forward to another season of comedy and drama, love and weirdness, God and sex — in the service of community and in pursuit of peace, joy, freedom and human rights for all.”

Transparent season 4 will have 10 episodes and will premiere on Friday, September 22nd on Amazon.
