GoTG Vol. 3 to be Possible Start of Decades of Marvel Films
Marvel has already released a schedule of their planned films for up until 2020, and as we steadily work our way through the list the overlap between our favorite heroes is only getting larger, something we can definitely count on seeing in Avengers: Infinity War which will have a confirmed minimum ensemble of 60 people. As we wait for the movie (we are also still waiting on the trailer) that is reportedly like nothing we are prepared to see, we can’t help but think about exactly where our favorite characters are going to end up down the line. However, we need not fret because we will apparently get to see it.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is even available to be owned for home use yet but we’re already getting information that the upcoming 3rd film of the series will act as an almost a new starting point for the MCU. During a session on Facebook Live, the GoTG Writer/Director was asked about whether or not Nova would be featured in the franchise was brought up and Gunn’s response was:
“Yes, definitely. Nova comes up occasionally as someone we might use. One of the things I’m doing with creating Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it will take place after the next Avengers movies and it will help to set up the next 10, 20 years of Marvel movies. It’s going to really expand the cosmic universe. We’re going to be setting up new characters. It will be the last movie of this version of Guardians of the Galaxy.”
It seems like the third Guardians film will be setting up the next chapter after Avengers 4 ends phase three. Gunn also previously expressed interest in exploring the storylines of the original Guardians but nothing has been confirmed about that. There is also no official release date for GoTG Vol. 3 yet, but Gunn is aiming for 2020.
