Legendary actor, Morgan Freeman, is set to become the 54th recipient of the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award. The SAG Lifetime Achievement Award is just another in a long list of well-deserved accomplishments for the 80-year-old actor.
Freeman has already won a SAG award during his illustrious screen career, as well as an Academy Award, the Cecil B. DeMille award from the HFPA, a Kennedy Center Honor and multiple NAACP Awards, just to name a few.
SAG-AFTRA President, Gabrielle Carteris had lots of praise for Freeman as she made the announcement today. Carteris said:
“I am thrilled to announce Morgan Freeman as this year’s recipient of the SAG Life Achievement Award. Some actors spend their entire careers waiting for the perfect role. Morgan showed us that true perfection is what a performer brings to the part. He is innovative, fearless and completely unbound by expectations. As a chauffeur, convicted murderer, boxing gym attendant, pimp or president, Morgan fully realized every character, baring their souls and showcasing their humanity. It has been a privilege to see his genius at work.”
In a career that has spanned decades, Freeman’s filmography includes: Driving Miss Daisy, The Shawshank Redemption, The Dark Knight trilogy, Invictus, Bruce Almighty, The LEGO Movie, Amistad, Kiss the Girls, Glory, Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby and countless others. This list does not even encompass his television, narration and theater work.

Freeman’s next on-screen projects include Villa Capri with Sheryl Lee Ralph, Rene Russo and Tommy Lee Jones due out on December 8, as well as the Disney live-action fantasy film, The Nuctracker and the Four Realms alongside Helen Mirren, Keira Knightley and Misty Copeland which is slated to hit theaters on November 2, 2018.
