Theme Park Sim ‘Jurassic World Evolution’ Announced

The developers behind Planet Coaster revealed today that Jurassic World Evolution is coming to PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox. The announcement was made today at Gamescom, and it’s supposed to be a dinosaur-themed amusement park simulation, coming in summer 2018, just in time for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

The chief creative officer of Frontier, Jonny Watts, explained some of the features in the initial release:

“As long-time fans of the entire Jurassic series, we’re thrilled to be putting players in charge of their own Jurassic World. We’re excited to bring over fifteen years of management, simulation, and creature development expertise to a destination and franchise that remains an inspiration to us. Players will build their own Jurassic World as they bioengineer new dinosaur breeds and construct attractions, containment, and research facilities. Every choice leads to a different path and spectacular challenges arrive when ‘life finds a way.’”

This isn’t the first time Jurassic Park has been put into a theme park sim game. Back in 2003, Blue Tongue Entertainment developed Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis to some pretty positive reviews. It’ll be interesting to see what new features are mixed in from Planet Coaster.

We’ve still got a while before new details come out, but hopefully in the coming months we’ll see some information about gameplay.
