According to Variety, The CW is developing a television series that follows the story laid out in Lesley Livingston’s, The Valiant.
Livingston’s book follows the life of a Celtic princess named Fallon who is on the run from an arranged marriage she wants no part in. Eventually, she is captured and forced into slavery under the reign of Julius Caesar.
The only way she can possibly escape is to fight for her freedom. Fallon and a few of the other young women captured become the first wave of female gladiators set to fight in the Colosseum for glory and liberation.
Laurie Arent who wrote and produced for NCIS: New Orleans and worked on The Client List will executive produce and write The Valiant for The CW. Warner Bros. Television will produce.
If the series gets ordered it would join a slew of other female-led television shows currently airing on The CW including Jane the Virgin, iZombie, Supergirl and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
