Live Action Naruto Pulls In Writers of Red

In case it slipped your notice, Lionsgate is currently working on a live adaptation Naruto and it’s just been released that the script will be rewritten by Erich and Jon Hoeber who are the men behind Red and Red 2, which is based off the DC comic book of the same name. They will be working alongside none other than Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto himself.

The manga originally came out in 1999 and tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a ninja with aspirations of becoming the legendary Hokage, the leader and protector of the village of Konoha. The series came to an end in 2014 with its 72nd and final volume and has sold more than 200 million copies around the globe. The manga has even inspired a spin-off, two anime series, video games, novels, animated films, and I can’t think of one person who hasn’t at least attempted to do the “Naruto Run”, myself included.

The film will be under the direction of Michael Gracey, who is also the man behind upcoming The Greatest Showman on Earth and the Elton John biopic Rocketman.  Avi Arad (Former Marvel Studios Head) is will serve as a producer through his Arad Productions banner.
