FOX is looking to get back into the procedural genre. The network has ordered a script from Rizzoli & Isles creator Janet Tamaro.
With the working title Smoke and Mirrors, the series focuses on a veteran detective, a mother on desk duty, who unexpectedly goes back in the field to work with a rookie, who was working deep cover.
The script is under penalty, which means the network will have to pay even if it doesn’t pick up the series.
Tamaro will write and executive produce with 20th Century Fox.
The TV veteran has previously worked on Bones, Law & Order: SVU and Lost.
After the finale of long-running Bones, the closest thing to a police procedural currently on Fox’s schedule is Lethal Weapon.
