The already star studded roster of James Gray’s sci-fi epic Ad Astra just added yet another one of Hollywood’s biggest names. The cast that already includes Hollywood heavyweights Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones, and one of Hollywood’s hottest actresses Ruth Negga, just added a Hollywood legend in Donald Sutherland.
Sutherland who has more acting credits (188) than years in his life (82) has been in some pretty classic films. He is most recently remembered for his portrayal of President Snow in the Hunger Games series, but Sutherland has been in films as well as television since 1962.
Ad Astra is described as an adventure across the solar system, as a man seeks to stop his crazed scientist father who is a threat to all man kind. Details about the film are scarce, but we do know that Brad Pitt will be playing the lead protagonist. As for Jones, he will be portraying the antagonist. Sutherland and Negga’s roles are still unclear.
The film is being brought to us by two known collaborators New Regency and Plan B which have yielded us films such as The Big Short and 12 Years a Slave. Plan B is Brad Pitt’s production company.
James Gray, who also co-wrote the script with Ethan Gross, has not yet announced a release date for his space epic. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts about this star studded cast and upcoming sci-fi film in the comments section below!
