Donald Glover Says “There Is A Lot More Time to Refer to Him as Childish Gambino”
The artist formally known as Donald Glover broke fans hearts when he announced that he would be retiring his stage name Childish Gambino following his next album. However, according to the Atlanta artist we have quite some time before we have to abandon referring to him as Childish Gambino. In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1 the artist let a confused DJ Clara Amfo know that she could call him Childish Gambino for awhile longer stating, “You still have a lot more time of calling me [Childish Gambino] if you want”.
Glover, who decided it was time to give up his alter ego due to not liking the direction he was heading underneath that alias, also disclosed in that interview he is currently working on music while in London. ““I’ve been working on that here,” he claimed. He then added, “You guys have been very instrumental in my music. London has been very inspirational.”
If Glover is already working on his last Childish Gambino album, then it could be confusing why he stated it will be awhile before Childish Gambino is retired. Although if you look at his busy slate that consists of filming the Han Solo film, as well as providing his voice talents as Simba in the new Lion King adaptation, Donald Glover is booked. This could explain why it may take awhile to finish presumably the final chapter of Childish Gambino’s career.
