‘The Defenders’ Will Subtly Explore the Consequences of Matt’s Reveal
Season 2 of Daredevil left us hanging on what would happen between Matt and Karen, after he revealed to her that he was the vigilante known as Daredevil. It’s not likely they address that particular topic fully until Daredevil season 3, however, we might see something in the first season of The Defenders.
Possible spoiler: At the beginning of The Defenders, six months have passed since the final episode of Daredevil s2. During those six months, Matt Murdock is “enjoying” his absence from vigilantism and being the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. End of possible spoiler.
According to Deborah Ann Woll, in an interview with Screen Rant, The Defenders won’t stay away from the consequences of Matt’s identity reveal to Page:
“I think you’ll definitely see us pick up and discuss what that is, but it’s also a little bit about figuring out whether I can trust him, or whether he can trust me. We’re in a little bit of that limbo.”
The Defenders may not feature a full-blown flashback so we can see Karen’s reaction to the reveal, but it’s for sure that Matt and she will have time to make amends (although any true conciliation will have to wait until Daredevil s3). We can only guess how that conversation went, but taking Woll’s comment, it seems like the mistrust is mutual: She doesn’t trust Matt and Matt doesn’t trust her.

Right now, only press and special guests have been able to see the first four episodes, and so far, reviews have been good, but we will have to wait and see what will happen between Matt and Karen until August 18, when The Defenders premieres on Netflix.
