Marvel’s Inhumans Still a “Work in Progress”
There have been many mixed reactions to the new series Marvel’s Inhumans, most of them criticizing the production design and special effects shown in the trailers that have already been released. With Marvel shows like Legion doing extremely well, the expectations have been very high. Everything Marvel seems to be on the rise – films, television, and Netflix originals – the backlash has been incredibly unexpected.
During TCA’s press tour, ABC President Channing Dungey reassured fans that much of the special effects for Inhumans is still being developed, and viewers shouldn’t write off the series just yet.
“A lot of the first stuff was a reaction to Medusa’s wig. Fans, as you know, feel very passionately and very strongly about that. We released some new footage at Comic-Con that I think has reversed some of that conversation. This is still a work in progress. We’re really down to the wire on some of the special effects.”
One of the directors on the show has even made a statement admitting the trailers may not have given the best impression for the new series. It sounds like they’ve taken the fan criticism seriously and are hoping to produce a much better final product than has been let on recently.
Do you think Marvel’s Inhumans will follow Legion’s ascendence, or will it fall flat like their trailer?
Audiences will have to wait and see when Marvel’s Inhumans releases in IMAX on September 1, with the television series premiere continuing on ABC September 29.
