John Kani Cast As Rafiki In Upcoming Lion King Live-Action Film

The previous King of Wakanda will not be part of another kingdom.

The Wrap reports that John Kani has been announced to voice Rafiki in the upcoming Lion King live action remake. Kani is most recently known for his role as T’Chala’s father T’Chaka in Captain America: Civil War.

Kani will join Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, and John Oliver to lend their voice talents to the Jon Favreau-led live action film.

Kani is not the only actor announced for the much anticipated live-action remake. Earlier today, Alfre Woodard was announced to be the voice of Sarabi, wife to Mufasa and mother to Simba.
