David Hasselhoff wants to bring back Knight Rider, and he has expressed his interest in having James Gunn helm the project.
The 80’s hit show featured Hasselhoff as a crime fighting agent with the baddest car in the world. The hi-tech car was a character of its own, but that might come across quite cheesy today.
“”I’ve given some ideas to James for Knight Rider, and he responded in a big way. If it does go forward, I don’t want it to be spoofed like Baywatch or 21 Jump Street. Those films lose what it’s about, and you have to respect the fans,”” – THR
The show ran from 1982-1986, and spawned several spin-offs and sequels. The film rights were passed down since 2002. Gunn has shown an epiphany for the 80’s through his Guardians of the Galaxy and Gunn has doubled down with his collaboration with Hasselhoff by featuring him in the GOTG 2 and the promotional material. Marvel released Guardians Inferno, featuring the cast of GOTG 2, and Hasselhoff.
Gunn rewarded fans with a music video to Inferno by the Sneepers from the GOTG 2 soundtrack.
Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Michael Rooker, Stan Lee, Guillermo del Toro, Gunn, and David Hasselhoff all appear in the video. David Yarovesky directed the video based off Gunn’s idea.
The video will be featured on the Blu-ray, available August 22nd 2018.
