The live action remake of The Lion King continues to add to its already stellar cast.

Luke Cage star Alfre Woodard has been cast as Simba’s mother Sarabi. She was voiced in the original by Madge Sinclair.

The Lion King is directed by Jon Favreau and is expected to be presented in the same style as his other Disney remake The Jungle Book.

Woodard joins a cast that includes Donald Glover as Simba, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumba, John Oliver as Zazu and James Earl Jones returning as Mufasa.

Chiwetel Ejiofor is in talks to be the voice of Scar.
