Starz To Develop Ascendant, A TV Series Based on Divergent Movies
The world of Divergent has found its home on the small screen.
A fourth installment of the Divergent films, which is based on Veronica Roth’s bestselling books, was opted out by Lionsgate, who opted to continue the franchise in another medium. Today, Deadline reports that Starz will be developing a TV series adaptation of the Divergent films.
According to Deadline, the project is still in its early stages but will be written and produced by Adam Cozad, who is best known for Tarzan and Jack Reacher. The Age of Adaline’s Lee Toland Krieger has been chosen as director. Both Cozad and Krieger were initially attached to be the writer and director respectively for the fourth film, but are now slated for the television adaptation instead.
There haven’t been any details reported yet, and Deadline also reports that Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Ansel Elgort, are not confirmed to appear in the television series. Additionally, both Starz and Lionsgate TV have declined to comment on such reports.
