People have criticized time after time that the DCEU has a dark and broody tone not a lot of people agree with. For some, Wonder Woman changed that with its hopeful ending and its view on humanity and heroism, becoming one of the highest gross films this year.

Apparently, it sounds like DCEU’s upcoming film Shazam! will have a different tone than the rest of the movies. In an interview with the Toronto Sun, director David Sandberg talked about what we can expect of the film and what did he saw in Billy.

“The big attraction for me with that character is the fact that every kid dreams of being Superman, right? I mean I certainly did, and (Billy Batson) is a kid that gets that chance. He gets to become the superhero. So, it’ll be big with superpowers in a way. In terms of what people can expect, I think this will be one of the more fun or lighthearted movies so far in the DC universe. It certainly will be a departure.”

Shazam! will follow the story of Billy Batson, a boy that after saying the word “Shazam!” transforms into the superhero known as Captain Marvel.
