Nia Long to be Series Regular on ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Season Nine

CBS’ long-running procedural NCIS: Los Angeles will make some changes to the cast for its ninth season.

Nia Long is set to join the show in the series regular role of executive assistant director Shay Mosely. She is a Washington insider who must adjust to the team’s west coast style.

“The character was created specifically for Nia to capitalize on her strengths and personality,” executive producer R. Scott Gemmill told TV Line. “We are excited about the new opportunities and dynamics she brings to the show.”

The series suffered a loss last season with the passing of actor Miguel Ferrer. He played assistant director Owen Granger.

It seems like the addition of Long’s character is meant to fill the void of losing Granger.

Season eight ended with LL Cool J’s Sam taking revenge on the man who killed his wife, then taking a leave from the team to help his children. Kensi and Deeks also finally got engaged.

Are you excited to see Nia Long join the NCIS franchise.

NCIS: Los Angeles is back with new episodes Sunday, Oct. 1 at 9:30 pm on CBS. It will then move to its regular timeslot of Sundays at 9 pm.
