Hayley Atwell Would Love To Bring Agent Carter To The Big Screen In A Solo Film
Agent Peggy Carter made her debut appearance in Captain America: The First Avenger, has had appearances in the following two Captain America films, as well as Ant-Man. As one of the co-founders of S.H.I.E.L.D, Peggy has most certainly established herself as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s best recognized mainstays.
Hayley Atwell’s portrayal of Agent Carter has been one of the MCU’s best performances and she’s certainly been a fan-favourite ever since she was first seen on the big screen back in 2011. In fact, Peggy was liked so much that she got her own solo show on ABC, Agent Carter and has had guest appearances on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Although her solo series only remained on the air for two seasons, it was well received by fans and critics. The show had an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and it seems the show’s star isn’t opposed to the idea of becoming Peggy Carter once again.

During an interview with IGN, Atwell revealed that she would love to see Peggy get her own film:
“I’d love to see [Peggy] more in films. I’d love to see her in her own film. And if we can keep evolving it so that she does new things so that I can surprise myself and she can keep surprising me then I’d love to do it. And I feel very privileged to be part of something that people really love and that entertains them. But also, you’re going to these conventions and meeting people who’ve named their son Carter and people who have a tattoo of “I Know My Value,” the tagline. She’s a force of good and there are a lot of social media sites where girls and guys have come together and become good friends on an international scale because of their belief in some of the values that Peggy talks about. And that provides them with a different connection that a family situation or school situation that they don’t really feel they have a place in. That’s really cool to me. So I’m very happy to be a part of that world and keep that going.”
Since it’s been announced that the upcoming Captain Marvel movie will be set in the 90s, perhaps we will get to see Agent Carter on the big screen again sooner rather than later.
As there were a few cliffhangers that went unaddressed due to the abrupt cancellation of the Agent Carter television series, it would be great to see some of them resolved if Marvel Studios ever did make an a film about Peggy.
Would you like to see Peggy Carter take on some more bad guys in her own solo film? Be sure to let us know in the comment section below.
For now, we will just have to wait and see if Atwell gets the chance to make more appearances as Cap’s ‘best girl’. I for one would love to see Peggy back on the big screen.
