Disenchantment is an animated adult sitcom set in a medieval fantasy, and it’s set to start streaming in 2018 with 10 episodes. It focuses on a young hard drinking princess named “Bean” (played by Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson), who’s accompanied by her elf friend “Elfo” (Nat Faxon) and her “personal demon” Luci (Eric Andre).

Rough Draft Studios, the studio that animated Futurama, will be animating Disenchantment. According to Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of original content, “The series will bear Groening’s trademark animation style and biting wit, and we think it’s a perfect fit for our many Netflix animation fans.”

Matt Groening himself described the show in a press release:

Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”

Netflix is already home to a number of adult animated sitcoms (both original and syndicated) that are pretty popular, so Disenchanted should fit right in.

Are you excited about Groening’s new show, or is it a pass? What do you think of the cast? Let us know in the comments!
