Since the announcement of Deadpool 2, fans have been clamoring for more information on the other Marvel heroes to appear in the film. The soaring responses to Deadpool has already set-up high expectations for its successor, even before the announcement of the appearances of both Domino and Cable. Both parts have already been cast with exceptional talents, with Josh Brolin taking on Cable and Zazie Beets as Domino.

With the excitement over the secondary characters growing, there has been speculation on how the film will honor its Wade Wilson solo-storyline, instead of another X-Men type of movie, with a jam-packed cast of characters.

David Leitch recently sat down with ScreenRant to talk about his new film Atomic Blonde, and also talked about the creative process behind Deadpool 2, touching on how they will attempt to portray Domino’s incredible power to alter probabilities.

“(Laughs) We’re excited to play with that idea in choreography. I’m not going to give you how it’s all going to play out. As a choreographer, having a character with her abilities is really a trick. I think at first it seems like a problem. Like oh my god, how dod you demonstrate luck? And then you just see it like, oh, this is the coolest opportunity ever, so we’re really excited and we’re creating really great stuff for her character.”

Leitch also touched on how much of Cable’s backstory the film will delve into, being one of the most anticipated Marvel heroes to finally hit the big screen.

“Look, I think besides all of the Deadpool, sort of the film universe Deadpool, you kind of have to be selective of like how you approach these characters because there’s a canon of work that’s so massive that you could never put it all on screen. So we’ve been really particular what we’re going to put in and what we’re going to leave for potential future if it goes that way and, uh, I think you’ll like it. It’s all in the spirit of canon, and also in the spirit of like what Deadpool the movie is.”

With an X-Force film also currently in development from Joe Carnahan, it may be that Deadpool 2 will just allude on both Domino and Cable’s backstories, which will then be further explored in the X-Force film. It’s difficult to make accurate predictions, seeing as Deadpool 2 is just a couple weeks into filming.

With Leitch’s previous notable works being hard hitters such as John Wick and Atomic Blonde, it’s no question he has the incredulous talent to shoot compelling and intense action sequences. With characters like Domino, Cable, and Deadpool, the visual possibilities are endless, and we can rest assure the sequel is in great hands.
