Captain Marvel Won’t Be Appearing In ‘Avengers Infinity War’
Avengers: Infinity War is going to be the MCU film with most characters on screen ever, but, reportedly, Captain Marvel will not be among them.
Joe Russo, co-director of Avengers: Infinity War, ruled out the possibility of seeing Carol Danvers in the third Avengers movie when he said in an interview at SDCC that “She’s not in Avengers 3,”.
As he said Avengers 3, there’s still the possibility that we might see her in the fourth Avengers film, which will premiere after the standalone film for Captain Marvel.
In the Marvel panel at SDCC, it was revealed that the movie will be set in the early 90’s, with Nick Fury having a key role and the villains of the film will be the infamous Skrulls, unleashing all kind of theories of who might be an Skrull on the MCU.
It has also been stated that in Captain Marvel the Quantum-realm will play a big role, same as in Ant-Man and The Wasp, a film that will also have its premiere between the two Avengers films, making a possibility that Scott Lang or Hope Van Dyne will find Captain Marvel locked away in the microscopic universe along with Janet van Dyne, who will be played by Michelle Pfeiffer in the upcoming Ant Man and The Wasp.
But that’s not all that Joe Russo had to say about Avengers Infinity War and its sequel:
“They’re all big. I think it’s important for both [Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4] to be distinctly different. It’s important for them to have different tones, different narratives, and to have different surprises for the audience. We’ve worked really hard with Markus and McFeely (screenwriters that have worked with the Russos in The Winter Soldier and Civil War) in ensuring that the films are tonally different and structurally different.”
