Pokemon Go is Getting Legendary Pokemon
A year ago, everyone with a smartphone was roaming the streets from morning til night playing Pokemon Go. There’s been a significant drop in playership in recent months, but Niantic, the game’s developer, is hoping to fix that with a new announcement.
For months, rumors have swirled about Legendary Birds (Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres, Lugia, and Ho-oh) appearing in-game, but they’ve finally been officially confirmed. According to a new trailer released by Niantic, the legendaries will randomly appear at local Gyms.

Niantic wrote about how the legendaries will function in a new blog post:
“As Trainers around the world go out and explore their neighborhoods in search of Pokémon and Raid Battles, they can keep an eye out for unique Legendary Eggs appearing at Gyms. If Trainers and their team are able to successfully defeat a Legendary Raid Boss, they’ll have the opportunity to catch a Legendary Pokémon of their own! While Legendary Pokémon will help them take on the toughest Raid Bosses and Gym Battles, they’re not willing to leave their Trainer’s side, so they can’t be left to defend Gyms.”
Along with raids and the recent gym updates it looks like Niantic is looking for ways to bring players back to obsessively playing Pokemon Go. What do you think – are these updates and legendaries enough to make you want to play again? Let us know!
