Delve Into the Mind Behind Wonder Woman in New Trailer for ‘Professor Marston and the Wonder Women’

The new full-length trailer for Professor Marston and the Wonder Women has been released and it gives viewers a more up-close and personal look into the life and mind of Wonder Woman creator, Dr. William Moulton Marston (Luke Evans).

We see from the trailer that the character, who is now seen as a feminist icon, was not always portrayed as such and that Marston’s early depictions of the character frequently had elements of bondage and sadomasochism blended in.

Marston, who was also the inventor of the lie detector test, was in a polyamorous relationship with his wife, Elizabeth Holloway Marston (Rebecca Hall), and Olivia Byrne (Bella Heathcote) – the two women who many see as being part of Marston’s pro-women stance.

Check out the trailer below:

Most of the ideas within the early Wonder Woman comic books were taboo in the 1940s when it was released, but the feminist tone of the book, something that many believe came from the politics of Mrs. Marston and Ms. Byrne were revolutionary – and something most men would not have wanted to see in comics at the time.

Aside from the comic books, the film also seems to center on the drama between Marston, his wife and Byrne with many calling into their relationship and drawing similarities between them and the characters in the comic pages.

This point is keenly noted when author Josette Frank (Connie Britton) asks Marston why Wonder Woman has a secret identity and when Marston explains, Frank states, “I wonder if you’re the one with the secret identity…”

It looks like it will be an interesting film. What did you think about the trailer? Be sure to let us know in the comment section below.

Professor Marston and the Wonder Women is set to his theaters on October 27, 2017.
