Emily Blunt Talks ‘Mary Poppins Returns’
During D23 this year, fans were treated to a look of fantastical and mythical proprtions when showed the new footage of Mary Poppins Returns.
The film takes place in 1989, 25 years after the original, and follows Michael and Jane Banks who experience familial loss but are soon treated to the happiness that Mary Poppins and Lamplighter Jack bring to them as they step in to take care of the child duo.
After the trailer, Emily Blunt and director Rob Marshall talked about the film and its many aspects.
Blunt talked about the role being a “daunting” task and that “the idea of this magical, mysterious person whisking into their lives and making everything right again, was really comforting,” Blunt spoke in adherence to the original film.
But, when Blunt spoke about the personality of Mary Poppins it was a bit of a shock, “she’s rude, eccentric and odd.” And continued to say that even though she needs to “pay homage to what Julie Andrews did” she also needs to make the role her own.
What do you guys think of Blunt as Poppins? I personally love the casting choice and the film is one of my most anticipated! Tell us your thoughts in the comments down below!
